2025 -2026 Transportation Procedures
School building opens at 7:55: Students may not be dropped off or enter the building before this time. Students will go straight to breakfast or the gym before being released to classrooms at 8:05.
Bell Rings at 8:20: Your child is tardy if they are not in their classroom by 8:20 am and will have to sign in at the office before going to their classroom.
Transportation:
Bus Riders: Enter the building at 8:00 and all Students will go straight to breakfast or the gym before being released to classrooms at 8:05.
Car Riders: We will have one lane for student drop off and pick up. Please pull all the way up to the 8 spots in front of the building, do not stop at the front door. We will always have staff outside to help in our drop off lanes with students getting out of cars until 8:20 am. After 8:20 am parents will walk students to the office through the front doors where they will be signed in as tardy because it lets the teacher know that their attendance will be updated.
In order to keep our traffic moving, we ask the following of parents:
Stay in your car unless you want to park in the lot to get your child out of the car and/or walk your child to the building. This parking lot is at the back of the school. Please use that area if you plan to walk your child to the door.
If you are parking in the back lot, you must accompany your child to the sidewalk.
If you are in the drop off lane, please pull as far forward as possible.
If needed, please allow our staff to open your car door to help your child out of the car. If your child requires being taken out of and/or placed into a buckled car seat, please park in the back parking lot so that you can assist them. Remember to work with your child on exiting the car themselves on the passenger side.
Have your child’s school items close to them so they can reach them to make drop off quicker.
Walkers/Parent Walk Up: Students that walk to school or have parents who would like to walk them to the doors, enter through the cafeteria doors of the building near the field and back parking lot.
During the School Year any Change in Transportation: If you need to change what is normal transportation for your child, such as a bus rider to a car rider, we require that you send a note with your child for his/her teacher (who will in turn send the note to the office for a bus pass) or a parent can come into our office in person with the note. We cannot accept over the phone request due to safety with custodial issues. All transportation changes must be in writing for the safety and security of our students.
Drop off Items: Please come to the office to drop off items and we will contact the teacher or we will walk the item to your child’s classroom. Please park and walk in after 1 PM. Some families enter the pick up line eary and you will be at risk of getting caught in the pick up line, and we will not be able to stop what we are working on to move cones.
2025-2026 Transportation Opt-in/Opt-Out (all families)
As South Western City Schools look ahead to the summer with transportation planning for the 2025–2026 school year, we are asking all families to complete our K–12 Transportation Opt-In/Opt-Out Form. Your participation will help us build more efficient and effective routes to support students to maximize route efficiencies and avoid reserving empty seats for families not intending to use the bus.
