Dear Monterey Elementary Families,
At Monterey Elementary, our unwavering commitment is to support the growth and success of every student. We are incredibly proud of our outstanding staff and their dedication to fostering a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment where all students feel valued and loved.
We are thrilled to share an exciting development for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year! Monterey Elementary will be implementing School-Wide Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS). PBIS is a proactive, school-wide framework designed to support student behavior and learning for all students.
As the new school year begins, our students will be explicitly taught school-wide expectations. Alongside our core curriculum, we will be focusing on our fundamental core values that guide our daily interactions: BE RESPECTFUL, BE RESPONSIBLE, and BE SAFE. The first several weeks of school will be dedicated to embedding these core values and school-wide expectations into the fabric of our school day through focused lessons and activities.
We firmly believe that a strong partnership between home and school is paramount to student success. Your role in reinforcing our school-wide expectations at home is invaluable. Research consistently demonstrates that when families and schools collaborate to support one another, student learning flourishes and positive school behavior increases significantly.
We are excited about the positive impact PBIS will have on our school community and look forward to partnering with you to make the 2025-2026 school year a resounding success for every Monterey Elementary student.
Sincerely,
Amanda Bradford-Jordan
Principal Monterey Elementary School
What IS PBIS?
PBIS - School Staff and families working together at school and home.
School-wide Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports (PBIS) is a proactive, team-based framework for creating and sustaining safe and effective schools. Emphasis is placed on the prevention of problem behavior, the development of pro-social/emotional skills, and the use of data-based problem-solving for addressing existing behavior concerns.
The goal of PBIS and the many support systems that work within PBIS is to create a Safe, Consistent, and Predictable environment for all students to be successful.
